Philanthropic History
During her tenure as the focal person for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Delta State from 2011 to 2015, Hon. Stella demonstrated her dedication to poverty alleviation and community development. She championed the effective management of the Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) business policy, which aimed to tackle poverty and create employment in line with the MDGs mandate. Her efforts contributed to the growth and expansion of business clusters, benefiting numerous individuals and families in the state.
Empowering Neglected Communities
Having served as an elected Councilor in Ughelli-North Local Government Area, Hon. Stella gained valuable insights into the socio-economic needs of neglected communities. Armed with this knowledge, she proactively ensured that these marginalised communities benefited from strategic intervention programs under the state's Millennium Development Goals initiative. Her dedication to creating a positive impact at the grassroots level has made a significant difference in the lives of many.
Volunteer Work with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
Hon. Stella's philanthropic spirit extends beyond her political responsibilities. She actively involves herself in volunteer work, particularly with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ughelli, Maiduguri, and Abuja. Her compassion and support provide much-needed relief and hope to those affected by displacement, conflict, and humanitarian crises.
Inclusive Projects and Schemes for Women Empowerment
As the National Women Leader of the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Hon. Stella Okotete has spearheaded groundbreaking projects and schemes to engender women's visibility and inclusivity in politics, party processes, and governance. Initiatives such as the "Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF)" and the "APC Women Lobby Group" aim to promote equitable gender inclusion in politics and governance while advocating for women's rights and eradication of violence against women in politics.
Progressive Women Movement
Hon. Stella's vision for women's empowerment extended to the grassroots level, leading to the establishment of the "Progressive Women Movement." This cooperative operates in the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria, empowering grassroots women with entrepreneurial skills and business management techniques.
